첫부분에 보니, 도킨스도 과학과 신앙은 양립할수 있다고 입장을 바꾸었다. '만들어진 신'에서 과학과 신앙이 양립할수 없다는 논지를 펼친것은 젊은지구론자들에 대한 것이란다. 도킨스가 자신의 도그마적 좁은 입장의 맹점을 깨달을 듯 하다. 물론 프란시스 콜린스 박사와 같은 신실한 크리스천 과학자의 존재를 무시할수는 없었을 것이다. 그 질문을 아래에 따왔다.
도킨스: No, I don't think they're incompatible if only because there are many intelligent evolutionary scientists who also believe in God—to name only Francis Collins [the geneticist and Christian believer recently chosen to head the National Institutes of Health] as an outstanding example. So it clearly is possible to be both. This book more or less begins by accepting that there is that compatibility. The God Delusion did make a case against that compatibility in my own mind.
결국 도킨스는 눈이 멀지 않은 학자인게다. 그의 생각이 어디로 진화하는지 지켜보는것도 재밌을듯 하다.
